And here we go, the first week of active job searching.
First thing, I fixed up my résumé. Had a look online at what the Swiss guidelines are and ran it through a couple of chatbots to see if I could add anything else. On this topic, the LLMs I tried gave pretty much the same answers, I guess they’ve been well trained with all the recruiter tools out there.
Then came the mandatory stop on LinkedIn.
By now, it’s the platform for job searching these days. At least for IT roles. Not sure if it works as well for other sectors.
My “Open to work” post reached almost 1,000 people. Pretty surprising, considering it’s my first post ever on the platform. I’ve never really used it, so my profile is quite anonymous.
And so, I went ahead with my first Easy Application, a consulting position very much in line with my experience. And to be honest, the most important thing… FULL REMOTE.
A chimera in 2025.
Hard to believe, considering that after Covid it seemed like it was going to be the new normal.
But nope, once the storm passed, here we are again, all heading back to the office. Stuck in traffic or crammed into public transport.
Anyway, this might be my first possible ghosting.
My click was preceded by hundreds of others, and who knows how many came after me. Hard to expect a reply, unless it’s from some bot.
Then I moved on to an application on jobs.admin.ch, the official job portal of the Confederation.
There’s a nice tool that lets you set up an email alert with the positions you’re interested in.
I applied for a position that was quite a stretch, already knowing how it would end.
I hoped a good cover letter would convince them. Spoiler! It wasn’t enough.
But, incredibly, I got a reply within 24 hours, so that’s fine by me. I love Switzerland for that ❤️
In the following days, I was contacted on LinkedIn by two recruiting/consulting companies. After exchanging some messages and my CV, we’ll talk next week.
Let’s see how it goes.
Wish me luck 😀
